Giving back
Blackdown Growers is committed to giving back to the environment, our community and our colleagues. We enjoy our working environment and believe it is important to share this with others, and we take great care to protect it for the generations to come.
Our Community
We actively encourage and support the community to learn about the source of their Salads and Herbs. Through our commitment to education, we provide regular visits and tours to educate school children and students about our growing production systems, bringing to life how their food gets from seed to shelf Blackdown Growers is also passionate about supporting our local economy by employing from our local community plus supporting our wider community through charitable endeavour.
Crisis Relief
At Blackdown Growers we were delighted to play our part in the creation of the Rapid Relief team. This is a global organisation providing relief and support in times of crisis, such as the Ukraine war effort. Our team sent dozens of articulated lorries loaded with food boxes for people in need, many of them homeless. We also provided food for the emergency services to sustain their efforts too.
Charitable Donations
Closer to home, our colleagues nominate a charity close to their hearts each month and we will donate to help them – recent beneficiaries have included Myton Hospice, Cancer Research and Guide Dogs for the Blind. In addition, not only do we fund these charities, we are delighted to give our colleagues the opportunity to take time out of work to volunteer too. We recognise these are just small steps that we can take to support our local community for the benefit of our colleagues who live locally.

Farm Assurance
We are committed to good farming practices, recognising they are key to ensuring that all crops produced and supplied by us meet high standards of food safety and environmental protection, whilst delivering excellent quality products to consumers.
The farming systems are regularly reviewed by Blackdown Growers and new ideas are implemented on a regular basis.
In our quest to provide safe and legal fresh produce, all our procedures on the farm are covered by the following accreditations: BRC Fresh Produce, Red Tractor, Tesco Nurture, Field to Fork. We are also a LEAF marque grower showing our commitment to produce food in a sustainable way without an impact on the environment.
